W&L Men's Basketball Falls to Randolph-Macon, 74-42

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Randolph-Macon shot 50.8 percent (30-for-59) from the field in defeating Washington and Lee, 74-42, in ODAC men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon at the Warner Center.

The Yellow Jackets (10-7, 8-3) led from the opening tip to the final buzzer and led by as many as 19 points (31-12) with 2:12 remaining in the first half. They went into halftime with a 35-20 lead.

The Generals (2-16, 0-11) pulled to within 12 points at 39-27 with 16:04 left in the second half, but R-MC went on a 17-5 run over the next 7:43 to take a 56-32 advantage with 8:21 remaining.

W&L shot just 27.8 percent (15-for-54) from the field and was outrebounded 43-30.

The Generals were led by junior forward David Will (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax), who scored a team-high nine points and pulled down a team-best six rebounds. Freshman forward Femi Kusimo (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) and freshman guard Andrew Franklin (Katy, Texas/Katy) each chipped in with eight points.

Junior forward Justin Wansley (Ricmond, Va./Henrico) registered game-highs of 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, while sophomore forward Philip Hawley (Weirton, W.Va./Tristate Christian) notched 12 points and nine rebounds.

W&L returns to the court on Wednesday at Emory & Henry. The game begins at 7:00 pm.
