W&L Women's Basketball Defeats Rand.-Macon Woman's College, 65-60

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) and freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) each scored 19 points to help lead the Washington and Lee women's basketball team to a 65-60 victory over Randolph-Macon Woman's College on Sunday afternoon at the Warner Center.

The WildCats (1-11, 1-8) held a 14-9 lead with 13:18 remaining in the first half, but the Generals (9-6, 6-5) responded with a 14-4 run over the next 5:31 to take a 23-18 lead. R-MWC retook the lead at 26-25 at the 3:20 mark and went into halftime with a 32-30 advantage.

The two teams battled each other evenly throughout most of the second stanza and W&L held a slim 56-54 advantage with 3:24 left in the game. The Generals then went on a 6-2 spurt to take their largest lead of six points (62-56) with just 39 seconds remaining. W&L went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 10 seconds to seal the win.

Feve also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, while sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) scored 12 points. Senior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) dished out a season-high nine assists and grabbed five boards.

The WildCats were led by junior forward Meghan Stensrud (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax), who poured in a game-high 20 points and snatched seven rebounds. Junior forward Jennifer Prewitt (Crozier, Va./Goochland) registered a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds along with five steals and four blocks.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday when they entertain Bridgewater. The game begins at 7:00 pm.
