W&L Women's Basketball Downs Lynchburg, 71-46

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Senior forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) recorded a double-double with a season-high 15 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to lead the Washington and Lee women's basketball team to a 71-46 victory over Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.

The Generals (8-6, 5-5) jumped out to a 6-0 lead just 3:06 into the game, but the Hornets (6-7, 3-5) went on an 8-2 run to tie the game at 8-8 with 14:04 remaining in the first half. W&L responded with a 7-0 spurt to take a 15-8 lead with 11:28 left and would continue to extend its lead to as many as 21 points (38-17) before heading into halftime with a 38-19 advantage.

The Generals forced 25 Lynchburg turnovers, while holding the Hornets to just 26 percent (15-for-57) from the field. W&L shot 42 percent (28-for-66) from the floor, including 7-for-8 from three-point range.

Junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) tallied 12 points, including 3-for-3 from behind the arc, along with six rebounds and a game-high six assists. Freshman forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson Secondary) notched 11 points and swiped a game-high three steals.

The Hornets were led by sophomore center Caroline Wesley (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame), who scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. Junior forward Lacie Currle (Fairfax, Va./Bishop O'Connell) added nine points and four rebounds.

W&L returns to the court on Sunday at 3:00 pm when it hosts Randolph-Macon Woman's College.
