W&L Women's Basketball Falls To No. 16 Randolph-Macon, 73-61

LEXINGTON, Va. -- No. 16 Randolph-Macon outscored Washington and Lee, 47-30, in the second half to defeat the Generals, 73-61, in ODAC women's basketball action on Thursday night at the Warner Center.

The first half was closely contested as there were 10 ties and neither team held a lead larger than four points until the Yellow Jackets (13-1, 10-0) took a 26-21 lead with 5:30 remaining in the first half. The Generals (7-6, 4-5) responded with a 10-0 run to close the half and take a 31-26 advantage into halftime.

Randolph-Macon then opened the second half on a 15-5 run to take a 41-36 lead with 16:23 remaining in the game. W&L pulled to within two points at 51-49 with 7:27 left, but the Yellow Jackets steadily pulled away for the 12-point win.

The Yellow Jackets were 18-for-30 (.600) in the second half, while the Generals were just 10-for-26 (.390).
W&L was led by freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy), who scored a team-high 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Senior forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) set season-highs with 12 points and nine rebounds and dished out a career-best four assists. Senior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) tallied nine points, five rebounds, and handed out a team-high seven assists.

Junior guard Megan Silva (Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage) led Randolph-Macon with game-highs of 18 points and eight assists, while junior forward Michelle Orton (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) had 16 points on 8-for-9 shooting and hauled in six rebounds.

The Generals return to action on Saturday at Lynchburg. The game begins at 1:00 pm.
