BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Washington and Lee field hockey team improved to 2-1 in the ODAC with a 3-0 victory at Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon.
The Generals (2-4, 2-1) opened the scoring just 4:32 into the first period as sophomore forward Amy Volkmann (Norfolk, Va./Granby) found the cage after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder Megan Slosson (Cockeysville, Md./Maryvale Prep). W&L moved out to a 2-0 lead at the half as junior midfielder Jane Beall (Richmond, Va./James River) scored unassisted at the 20:48 mark.
Senior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./St. Catherines) capped the scoring as she found the goal off an assist from junior defender Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) with 15:12 remaining in the game.
Junior Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) played all 70 minutes in goal for the Generals, recording eight saves. Junior Frankee Waldron notched 14 saves in goal for the Eagles (6-3, 2-2).
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday as hosts Mary Washington for a 2:00 pm contest.
