HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team played its third overtime game of the season and came away with a 2-2 tie against ODAC-foe Hampden-Sydney College on Saturday afternoon in Hampden-Sydney, Va.
Freshman midfielder Josh Dodds (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) scored the first of his two goals at the 23:32 mark to give the Generals (2-2-2, 1-0-2) a 1-0 lead. W&L held the lead until Hampden-Sydney (2-6-1, 0-2-1) freshman Brian Peters knotted the game at 1-1 at the 60:45 mark.
Dodds gave the Generals a 2-1 lead with his second goal of the game with just a minute and a half remaining in the second half. W&L appeared to have the victory in hand until Tigers senior Michael Kraemer tied the game at 2-2 with only 21 seconds left in the second half. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the two overtime periods.
W&L freshman goalkeeper Jim Tartaglia (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) played all 110 minutes and made seven saves. Sophomore Nathaniel Dallas and junior Pierce Buckingham combined to stop four shots for the Tigers.
