WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Catholic University field hockey team scored a pair of goals late in the second half to defeat Washington and Lee, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Both offenses were held in check throughout the first half and most of the second half until freshman forward Michele Repass put Catholic (5-3) ahead 1-0 on a goal at the 57:48 mark. Freshman Kyle Keating notched the first of her two assists on the goal.
With just over three minutes remaining, Catholic made it 2-0 when sophomore Jayme Dismore received a pass from Keating and put it into the back of the Generals goal.
Washington and Lee (0-3) junior goalkeepers Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and Elise Gelinas (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Agnes Irwin) combined to make 10 saves. Senior goalkeeper Erin Swift stopped six shots for Catholic.
Catholic outshot the Generals, 12-6, while W&L held an 11-9 advantage in penalty corners.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday when it opens its ODAC schedule at Lynchburg. The game begins at 4:30 pm.
