LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Washington and Lee received eight goals from seven different players in defeating Randolph-Macon Woman's College, 8-0, in ODAC women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
The Generals (1-0-2, 1-0) cracked the scoreboard with 22:57 gone-by as senior defender Kelley Zagol (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) found the net unassisted. Sophomore midfielder Blair Haws (Fort Worth, Texas/Trinity Valley) scored unassisted just two minutes later as the Generals rolled out to a 4-0 halftime lead.
Zagol found the net again just 13:21 into the second half, this time off an assist from sophomore forward Sarah Helms (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park), her second helper of the day.
Senior Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) and sophomore Emily Binns (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) both played in goal for the Generals, combining to make six saves.
Emily Karnes played all 90 minutes in goal for the WildCats (4-2, 0-1), registering 11 stops.
Washington and Lee held a 32-11 edge in shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Generals return to action on Saturday as they play host to Randolph-Macon for an 11:00 am contest.
