GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Playing without starting guards Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) and Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads Academy) due to injuries, Washington and Lee was defeated by Guilford, 69-38, on Friday evening in ODAC women's basketball action.
The Generals (8-13, 5-11) hung tough through the first half of play, trailing by just seven points (30-23) at the break. However, a 12-2 Quaker run early in the second half put the game away. W&L shot just 26.0 percent for the game and committed 23 turnovers.
Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) led the Generals with game-highs in points (14) and rebounds (14). Senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) contributed 12 points.
Guilford (12-7, 10-5) was paced by Dara Burke's 10 points and seven rebounds.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts Lynchburg for a 7:00 pm contest.
