W&L Women’s Basketball Falls To Rand.-Macon Woman’s, 57-41

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Washington and Lee shot just 24.1 percent (14-58) from the field in falling to Randolph-Macon Woman's College, 57-41, in ODAC women's basketball action on Tuesday evening.

The Generals (8-12, 5-10) led the contest 15-14 with 9:53 remaining in the opening half, but the WildCats closed the half on a 15-7 run to assume a 29-22 edge at the break. W&L pulled to within six points (45-39) with 4:18 to play, but could get no closer as it was hampered by shooting just 18.8 percent (6-32) in the second half. RMWC (5-13, 3-11) then scored 12 of the final 14 points to run away with the win.

W&L was paced by senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy), who tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) added 12 points and a game-high 16 boards.

Randolph-Macon Woman's College was led by Amy Dameron, who scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Megan Stensrud also contributed 12 points for the WildCats.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday as it travels to Guilford for a 7:00 pm contest.
