LEXINGTON, Va. -- Bridgewater used a 13-2 run over the final 5:25 of the first half on its way to a 66-46 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC women's basketball action on Wednesday evening at the Warner Center.
Following the break, the Generals (9-15, 6-13) cut the Eagles' (19-5, 17-3) 15-point halftime advantage down to 10 points by 14:26 (40-30). Washington and Lee was unable to maintain the offensive output, however, and by 12:11 (47-32) Bridgewater regained a 15-point lead it wouldn't relinquish the remainder of the evening.
Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) led W&L with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) also contributed 12 points. Senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) also reached double-figures with 10 points and freshman guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) scored six points and swiped a game-high eight steals.
Junior center Krystal Hermes (Warrenton, Va./Liberty) led Bridgewater with game-highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman guard Katy Herr (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while snatching six steals and dishing out five assists.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Guilford in the regular season finale. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
