W&L Women’s Basketball Is Defeated By Randolph-Macon, 79-61

ASHLAND, Va. -- Washington and Lee freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) tallied a career-high 26 points and seven rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Generals fell to Randolph-Macon, 79-61, in ODAC women's basketball action on Friday evening.

The Yellow Jackets (15-7, 13-4) began the game with a 21-9 over the opening 7:34 and went into the half with a 42-28 advantage. Another R-MC run, this time an 11-2 serge over the first 2:49 of the second half, gave the Yellow Jackets a 53-30 lead that they would not relinquish.

Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) supplimented Hunsinger's effort with 17 points and seven rebounds. The Generals (9-14, 6-12) shot 46.2 percent from the floor, but committed 25 turnovers in the contest.

Randolph-Macon was led by Megan Silva, who tallied 20 points, seven assists and seven steals. Kristen Morgan added 13 points.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts Bridgewater for a 7:00 pm contest.
