W&L Wrestling Competes in the 2004 Scranton Invitational

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team was in action on Sunday afternoon, competing in the Scranton University Invitational. No team scoring was recorded.

The Generals were paced by freshman 174-pounder Jesup Sataloff (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh), who placed third in his weight class. Sataloff pinned Jamie Ponce of Centenary College (3:59), before downing Matt Miller of Lycoming, 6-1. He then fell to Ryan Hamper of McDaniel, 7-3, before defeating Zach Dietrich of King's College 5-3 in the third place match.

Freshman Peter Lawrence (Greenwich, Conn./Loomis-Chaffee) also turned in a stellar performance, placing fourth in the 149-pound weight class. Lawrence defeated Dante Terenzio of Luzerne, 9-1, before downing Mike Braun of The College of New Jersey, 10-6. Lawrence then fell to Kyle Hopkins of Lycoming, 6-5, and advanced to the third place match by default. Lawrence fell to Greg Tierney of Centenary, 14-3, for fourth place.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Sat., Jan. 8 when it travels to Gettysburg, Pa., for the Gettysburg Quadrangular. Action begins at 12:00 pm.
