NORFOLK, Va. -- Virginia Wesleyan shot 68.8 percent (22-32) in the first half en route to a 57-23 halftime advantage in defeating Washington and Lee, 98-61, in ODAC men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon.
The Marlins (7-0, 3-0) shot 52.9 percent for the game, including hitting 10-of-15 three-point attempts. VWC also forced 25 W&L turnovers in handing the Generals their eighth-straight loss.
W&L (0-8, 0-3) was led by freshman forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), who totaled 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Freshman forward Femi Kusimo (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) notched 11 points, while freshman center Mason Herman (Martinsburg, W.Va./St. Maria Goretti) registered a career-high 10 points.
Virginia Wesleyan was paced by junior guard Marques Fitch's 15 points. Sophomore guard Rodney Young added 14 points, while sophomore forward Brandon Adair posted 14 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts Guilford for a 7:00 pm contest.
