LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The third-seeded Washington and Lee field hockey team lost a 2-0 decision to second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in an ODAC Tournament semifinal game on Saturday afternoon at Lynchburg College.
The Marlins (16-4) took a 1-0 lead with 5:13 remaining in the first half when Emily Buckland took a pass from Chrissy Clancy and fired her shot into the back of the Generals' cage.
The Marlins closed out the scoring when Megan May scored at the 55:08 mark, off a pass from Cara Bryd.
Washington and Lee junior goalkeeper Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) made seven saves while Megan Koster stopped three shots for Virginia Wesleyan.
The Marlins outshot W&L, 11-4, and held an 11-8 advantage in penalty corners.
Washington and Lee finishes the season with a 9-9 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the ODAC.
Virginia Wesleyan will play top-seeded Lynchburg College in the ODAC Championship Game on Sunday at Lynchburg. The game begins at 12:30 pm.
