BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Washington and Lee placed all five starters in double figures for the first time since 1995 en route to a 71-61 win over Bridgewater in ODAC women's basketball action on Tuesday evening.
The Generals (3-1, 1-0) jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the game's opening minutes and never relinquished the lead in posting a 34-23 halftime advantage. W&L surged to an 18-point lead (51-33) midway through the second half and cruised to the victory.
W&L was paced by freshman forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy), who totaled 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Freshman forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) notched 13 points and sophomore center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) tallied 12 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) posted 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds, while junior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) rounded out the top scorers with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Bridgewater (3-1, 0-1) comitted 20 turnovers in the contest and was limited to just 34.8 percent (23-66) shooting from the floor. The Eagles were led by senior guard Lindsay Andrews' 12 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to 23rd-ranked Randolph-Macon for a 4:00 pm contest.
