ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team saw its season end with a 23-30, 24-30, 30-23, 27-30 loss to host Emory University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Generals were led by senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who had 18 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) had 12 kills, while junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) posted 11 kills. Junior middle blocker Taylor Gibson (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) added nine kills and five blocks, and junior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 44 assists and 12 digs.
The loss ended W&L's season at 28-8 overall. Emory improved to 30-6 overall and will face Texas Lutheran in the regional championship match on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
