ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team defeated Randolph-Macon, 30-24, 30-27, 25-30, 30-22 on Wednesday evening in Ashland, Va.
The Generals (12-4, 6-0) were led by senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who tallied 14 kills and 23 digs. Junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) notched 14 kills and five blocks, and junior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) amassed 11 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) added 13 kills, while junior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) recorded 57 assists and 20 digs.
The loss dropped Randolph-Macon to 11-8 overall, 6-1 in the ODAC.
Washington and Lee, whose ODAC winning streak has reached 37 straight matches, returns to action on Friday as it competes in the Averett Invitational. The Generals open the tournament with a match against Meredith at 5:30 pm.
