LEXINGTON, Va. -- Virginia Wesleyan sophomore forward Chrissy Clancy (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) tallied two goals and assisted on another to lead the Marlins past Washington and Lee, 3-1, in ODAC field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Turf Field.
The Generals (7-7, 5-3) took a 1-0 lead when freshman defender Kendall Korte (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) scored on a penalty corner off a feed from junior midfielder Jane Beall (Richmond, Va./James River) with 26:28 gone-by.
The Marlins (13-4, 7-1) knotted the score at 1-1 just 2:54 later on an unassisted goal by Clancy, and then took the lead on another Clancy goal at the 39:27 mark. Freshman forward Emily Buckland (Alexandria, Va./Foxcroft) iced the game as she took a pass from Clancy and found the cage at the 49:30 mark.
Junior Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) played all 70 minutes in goal for the Generals, recording three saves. Freshman Megan Koster (Vienna, Va./Oakton) notched seven saves in goal for the Marlins.
Washington and Lee held advantages in both shots (11-7) and penalty corners (6-2).
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday as it hosts Christopher Newport for a 12:00 pm contest.
