W&L Volleyball Downs Eastern Mennonite and Lynchburg, 3-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team extended its ODAC winning streak to 36 consecutive matches with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon. The Generals downed Eastern Mennonite 30-14, 30-9, 30-22, before defeating Lynchburg, 30-20, 30-22, 30-18.

In the win over EMU (1-17, 1-4), W&L was led by senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who tallied 10 kills, four digs and two blocks. Junior right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) amassed eight kills and three digs, while junior setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) added 27 assists and six digs.

In the victory against Lynchburg (9-5, 1-3), the Generals were again paced by Wolfing, who totaled 17 kills and eight digs. Byrne tallied eight kills and 14 digs, while senior libero Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) added 16 digs. Gladysz amassed 50 assists and eight digs, and junior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) totaled 14 kills to move past the 1,000-career kill mark. She now claims 1,005 kills and ranks sixth all-time.

Washington and Lee (11-4, 5-0) will put its streak on the line again on Wednesday as it travels to Randolph-Macon for a 7:00 pm contest.
