ROANOKE, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team upped its winning streak to 14 straight matches with a pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday afternoon at Hollins University. The Generals defeated Randolph-Macon Woman's College, 30-23, 30-17, 30-12, then downed Hollins, 30-13, 30-17, 30-20.
In the win over RMWC (7-15, 2-6), the Generals were led by senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who posted 11 kills, six digs and two aces. Junior middle blocker Ashley Overly (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) notched six kills and five blocks, while sophomore defensive specialist Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tallied 10 digs. Freshman setter Lauren Rudolph (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) added 26 assists.
In the victory over Hollins (3-13, 1-7), W&L (19-4, 9-0) was led by Wolfing's eight kills. Overly totaled six kills and three blocks, while sophomore defensive specialist Allison Stokan (Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) notched 10 digs. Rudolph posted 43 assists and three aces.
With the two ODAC wins, W&L improved its ODAC winning streak to 40 straight matches over the past four seasons. The Generals are in action again on Wednesday as they host Sweet Briar for a 6:30 pm contest.
