ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee field hockey team improved to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in the ODAC with a 1-0 win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
W&L scored the only goal just 3:06 into the game when junior midfielder Jane Beall (Richmond, Va./James River) took a pass from sophomore forward Amy Volkmann (Norfolk, Va./Granby) and fired the shot into the back of the Yellow Jackets' net.
Generals' junior goalkeeper Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) made nine saves to pick up her sixth win of the season. Maya Yacoub stopped 14 shots for Randolph-Macon (6-7, 3-5).
W&L outshot the Yellow Jackets, 18-10, while both teams had nine penalty corners.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Sewanee. The game begins at 1:00 pm.
