SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team saw its season end with a 30-27, 30-25, 30-27 loss to Emory University in the NCAA Division III Tournament at Trinity University.
The Generals held late leads in all three games, but could not hold on for the win. Junior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) led the way with 11 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) registered 10 kills. Junior outside hitter Michelle Chastain (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) notched eight kills and five digs and sophomore setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) added 34 assists and seven digs.
Katrina Damasco paced Emory with 15 kills. Jolene Litzman recorded 11 kills, while Remley Dodge added 45 assists.
The loss ended W&L's campaign with a 35-4 overall record. Emory improved to 30-12 and will play the winner of the Trinity-East Texas Baptist match on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
