SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved to 13-2 overall, 6-0 in the ODAC with a 30-13, 28-30, 30-23, 30-26 win over Roanoke and a 30-14, 30-17, 30-15 win over Methodist on Sunday afternoon at Roanoke College.
In the win over the Maroons (11-7, 3-2), the Generals were paced by sophomore middle blockers Taylor Gibson (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) and Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud). Gibson registered 16 kills and Gaillard added 15 kills. Sophomore right side Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy) notched 15 kills and 10 digs, while junior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) contributed 14 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) posted a career-high 60 assists and 13 digs.
In the victory over Methodist (4-13), Wolfing led the way with 10 kills and eight digs. Freshman middle blocker Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) recorded nine kills and 12 digs, while Gladysz amassed 27 assists and four service aces.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Bridgewater for a 6:30 pm match.
