BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- John Williamson scored the equalizing and game-winning goals to lift Bridgewater over Washington and Lee, 3-2, in ODAC men's soccer action on Saturday.
The Generals (6-5-2, 2-4-2) took a 2-0 lead as junior midfielder Brian Pirkle (Lexington, Va./Woodberry Forest) scored at 27:30 and senior midfielder Jacob Stoehr (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) scored at 55:30. Stoehr assisted on Pirkle's goal, while sophomore midfielder Derrick Lott (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) assisted on Stoehr's tally.
The Eagles (12-4-0, 6-2-0) began their comeback with a goal from Matt Brock at 73:30. Brock returned to W&L's defensive third at 84:00 to assist on Williamson's game-tying goal. Williamson put the game away with 1:20 remaining in the first overtime.
Sophomore Michael Stanton (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) and junior Christopher Carlson (Santa Monica, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) split time in the Generals' goal. Stanton started and made two saves, while Carlson covered the net in the second half and overtime period, making two saves.
Jon Boller played the entire game in goal for Bridgewater, making two saves.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when the Generals wrap up their regular season with a home contest against Emory & Henry. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
