W&L Volleyball Defeats Hollins, 3-0

ROANOKE, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved to 24-3 overall, 9-0 in the ODAC with a 30-19, 30-17, 30-12 win over Hollins on Thursday evening.

Sophomore middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) led the way, recording 13 kills. Junior outside hitter Michelle Chastain (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) notched 10 kills and sophomore middle blocker Ashleigh Overly (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added nine kills. Sophomore setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 30 assists and six digs.

Gladysz' 30 assists moves her to within 120 assists of the W&L season record (1,186) set by then-freshman Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) in 2001.

The loss dropped Hollins to 5-18 overall, 0-10 in the ODAC.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Randolph-Macon and Southern Virginia in a tri-match. The Generals take on the Yellow Jackets at 12:00 pm and then play the Knights at 4:30 pm.
