W&L Women's Soccer Defeats Eastern Mennonite, 2-1

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Senior midfielder Heather Coleman (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) scored the game-winning goal as 12th-ranked Washington and Lee defeated Eastern Mennonite, 2-1, in ODAC women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Generals (11-1-1, 8-1-0) took a 1-0 lead into halftime after freshman midfielder Rebecca Cohn (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Acad.) sank a goal at the 20:24 mark. Senior forward Fontaine Marcoux (Washington D.C./Potomac) earned an assist in the play.

A minute into the second half, Eastern Mennonite (8-5-0, 6-3-0) evened the score at 1-1 off a goal from Heather Bauman and an assist from Ellie Lind.

Coleman put the Generals in the lead to stay when she sank her game-winner off an assist by freshman midfielder Maggie Megear (Cold Spring Hbr., N.Y./Cold Sprg Hbr.) at 62:44.

Junior Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) covered the W&L goal, making one save. Rochelle Yoder played in the net for the Royals, making 11 saves.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Guilford. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
