FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington's Chrissy Soper scored a pair of goals in leading the ninth-ranked Eagles to a 4-0 win over Washington and Lee in field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon.
Soper scored the first of three first-half goals for the Eagles (8-1) and capped the day with the final goal at the 44:48 mark. Meghan McMahon supplimented Soper's effort with one goal and one assist.
Sophomore Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) started in goal for W&L (3-4), allowing three goals and recording four saves. Sophomore Elise Gelinas (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Agnes Irwin) spelled Harrison in the second half, recording three saves.
Robyn Lankford and Katherine Brown both played in goal for MWC, posting two saves. For the game, the Eagles held a 12-4 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in penalty corners.
W&L will be in action again on Saturday as it travels to Randolph-Macon Woman's College for a 1:00 pm contest.
