SALEM, Va. -- Freshman guard Veronica Kelly's 17 points paced four players in double-digits as Roanoke defeated Washington and Lee, 67-49, in ODAC women's basketball action on Friday evening at the Bast Center.
Kelly tallied nine of her points in the first half as the Maroons (11-6, 9-5) held a slim 25-22 halftime advantage. Roanoke then began the second half with a 20-0 run over the first 8:48 to assume a commanding 45-20 lead in cruising to the win.
Senior guard Katrina Williams notched 15 points, while sophomore forwards Jennie Schafer and Kayce Smith added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Washington and Lee (2-14, 2-12) was led by junior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy), who scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) tied a career-high with 14 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts Randolph-Macon Woman's College for a 7:00 pm contest.
