W&L Women’s Basketball Stung By Emory & Henry, 67-53

EMORY, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's basketball team gave up 19 points off of turnovers and fell, 67-53, to Emory & Henry on Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.

The Wasps (10-5, 8-2 ODAC) converted W&L's 15 turnovers into 19 points, while allowing the Generals to score just two points off E&H giveaways.

The Wasps entered the break clinging to a 27-26 lead after shooting 9-for-27 (33.3 percent) from the field. Despite connecting on only 12-of-31 second-half shots (38.7 percent), they outscored W&L by 13 (40-27) to pull away for the 14-point win.

Junior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) paced W&L (2-12, 2-10 ODAC) and led all scorers with 22 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Freshman guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) chipped in with 13 points, while sophomore forward Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) added 11. Senior center Austin Calhoun (Alexandria, Va./Annandale) grabbed a game-high eight boards.

The Wasps placed three players in double figures, headed by Danielle Moore who finished with 16 points. Amy Hensley tallied 15 points and Erin Connelly totaled 13.

W&L returns to the hardwood on Tuesday evening when it hosts Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 pm contest.
