W&L Men's Basketball Defeated by Roanoke, 65-53

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Roanoke College used a 21-8 run over the final 8:43 to defeat Washington and Lee, 65-53, on Saturday evening at the Warner Center.

The Generals (3-5, 0-4) overcame a 30-22 halftime deficit to assume a 45-44 lead before the Roanoke run, which was keyed by eight points from senior guard Josh Foster (Roanoke, Va./Roanoke Valley Christian) to put the game away.

Washington and Lee was led by sophomore center Mark Franceski (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono), who tied a career-high with 13 points. Sophomore guard Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) tallied 12 points and senior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon) totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Foster led the Maroons (5-6, 2-2) with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Robby Pridgen (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary), senior center Nathan Stewart (Christiansburg, Va./Auburn) and junior forward Drew Crowder (Radford, Va./Radford) each scored 10 points.

Washington and Lee will be in action again on Monday as it travels to 24th-ranked Mary Washington for a 7:00 pm contest.
