HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team dropped its ODAC-opener at Hampden-Sydney, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (7-2, 1-0 ODAC) scored the game's lone goal at the 47:36 mark when Beau Burke hammered Rob Johnson's pass into the back of the net.
Hampden-Sydney outshot the Generals 13-9, while also holding a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks for the afternoon.
W&L (1-3-1, 0-1 ODAC) senior goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) logged all 90 minutes in the Generals' net, making four saves.
Austin Krison and Elliot Byers split the time in the Hampden-Sydney net, each making two saves.
W&L returns to the pitch on Wednesday when it travels to Guilford College for a 4:00 pm match.
