LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Washington and Lee fought 13th-ranked Lynchburg to a 1-1 tie in ODAC women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
The Hornets (3-2-2, 0-0-1) opened the scoring as junior Kat Stuart scored off an assist from senior Nicole Wisniewski at the 28:19 mark of the first half.
The Generals (1-1-2, 1-1-1) responded at the 53:08 mark of the second half as sophomore midfielder Alison Irvin (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) kicked in a loose ball in front of the net to knot the game at 1-1. From there, both teams would play the rest of regulation and two overtime periods scoreless for the tie.
Sophomore Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) played all 110 minutes in goal, making nine saves. LC sophomore Erin Johnson also went the distance in goal, posting four saves. The Hornets outshot the Generals by an 18-9 count and held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Washington and Lee will return to action on Saturday as it hosts Hollins for a 1:00 pm contest.
