LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved to 28-7 overall, 10-0 in the ODAC with a pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday afternoon. The Generals defeated Roanoke, 30-19, 30-15, 30-16 then came back to defeat Maryville, 30-25, 30-14, 30-24.
In the win over Roanoke, sophomore outside hitter Michelle Chastain (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) led the way with 12 kills, eight digs and two blocks. Freshman middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) totaled 12 kills and three blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) notched 10 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore libero Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) recorded 12 digs and freshman setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) added 34 assists and 12 digs.
Against Maryville (26-7), Chastain totaled 15 kills and 10 digs, while Wolfing collected 12 kills and 17 digs. Lux notched 17 digs and Gladsyz added 37 assists and 14 digs.
In the day's other match, Maryville defeated Roanoke, 30-26, 30-27, 30-24. Roanoke is now 23-5 overall, 9-1 in the ODAC, while Maryville is 26-7 overall.
Washington and Lee will return to action on Friday as it competes in the ODAC Tournament. The Generals will be the tournament's top-seed and will face an opponent to be determined.
