LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team ran its undefeated streak to 14 games and upped its record to 11-1-3 overall with a 2-0 win over Chowan this Sunday afternoon on the Liberty Hall Fields.
Sophomore forward Molly Plummer (New Orleans, La./Sacred Heart) put the Generals (11-1-3) on the board 9:05 into the first half when she headed in freshman midfielder Kerry Giblin's (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands) rebound. W&L scored its second goal at the 27:39 mark when sophomore forward Maggie Hope (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) finished a give-and-go with junior forward Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, D.C./Potomac).
For the afternoon, W&L outshot Chowan (6-8), 22-7, and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalies Abigail Pfeffer (Essex, Conn./Portsmouth Abbey School) and Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) each played 45 minutes in the Generals' net, combining on the shutout. For the Braves, junior goaltender Meagan Deitchman (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) made six saves after relieving injured freshman Emily Wartham (Colonial Heights, Va./Colonial Heights) in the 25th minute.
The Generals will take the pitch again on Saturday when they host Savannah College of Art & Design for a 3:00 pm match.
