LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team outshot Emory & Henry, 51-0, en route to an 8-0 victory Wednesday afternoon on the Liberty Hall Fields.
Sophomore forward Molly Plummer (New Orleans, La./Sacred Heart) led the W&L charge with three goals. Freshman midfielder Gina Von Sternberg (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) chipped in one goal and two assists, and sophomore forward Maggie Hope (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) added a goal and an assist.
With the win, W&L ups its record to 6-1-2 (4-1-1 ODAC), including wins in its last five matches. Emory & Henry falls to 2-9 (0-6 ODAC) with the loss.
Sophomore goalies Abigail Pfeffer (Essex, Conn./Portsmouth Abbey School) and Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) each played 45 minutes in the Generals' net, combining on the shutout.
Freshman Mandi Pietrzyk (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) turned away 23 shots for the Wasps.
W&L will return to action this Saturday when it hosts Guilford for an 11:00 am match.
