LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved to 22-5 overall, 8-0 in the ODAC, with 3-0 wins over Lynchburg, Virginia Wesleyan and Villa Julie at Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon.
In a 30-13, 30-24, 30-17 win over Lynchburg, the Generals were led by sophomore outside hitter Michelle Chastain (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep), who totaled 18 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) notched 11 kills and 11 digs, while freshmen middle blockers Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) and Taylor Gibson (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) each tallied 10 kills. Freshman setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 47 assists and eight digs.
In a 30-11, 30-8, 30-18 win over Virginia Wesleyan, W&L was paced by Gaillard, who had nine kills and Gibson, who recorded seven kills and four blocks.
Chastain again led W&L in a 30-19, 30-18, 30-18 win over Villa Julie with 16 kills and 12 digs. Wolfing notched 10 kills, while Gladysz totaled 30 assists, 10 digs and six aces.
The Generals will return to action on Tuesday as they host Bridgewater for a 6:30 pm match.
