W&L Volleyball Defeats Randolph-Macon Woman's, 3-0

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team won its 17th straight ODAC match with a 30-15, 30-16, 30-20 win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College on Friday evening in Lynchburg, Va.

The Generals (19-5, 7-0) were led by freshman outside hitter Laura Byrne (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy), who totaled 10 kills. Freshman middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) recorded six kills, while freshman setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 22 assists.

Senior outside hitter Stacey Kimmel (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) contributed six service aces, raising her career total to a school-record 206 aces. The previous record of 202 aces had been held by Lindsay Ruckert (1998-01).

The loss dropped the WildCats to 4-15 overall, 0-8 in the ODAC.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Lynchburg College for three matches. The Generals will play Lynchburg at 12:00 pm, Virginia Wesleyan at 3:15 and Villa Julie at 5:00 pm.
