NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team dropped a 30-21, 27-30, 30-19, 28-30, 6-15 decision to Christopher Newport on Thursday evening in Newport News, Va.

The Generals (17-5) were led by sophomore outside hitter Michelle Chastain (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep), who tallied 15 kills and 21 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) notched 14 kills and 13 digs and freshman middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) added 12 kills and five blocks.

Freshman setter Christine Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) amassed 47 assists, 15 digs and six blocks, while sophomore libero Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) totaled 17 digs.

The win was Christopher Newport's second over the Generals this season. The Captains improved to 15-5 overall.

Washington and Lee will return to action on Wednesday as it travels to Emory & Henry for a 6:30 pm contest.
