LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team fell to 1-3 overall, 0-2 in the Centennial Conference as they were defeated by Muhlenberg, 40-9, on Wednesday evening at the Doremus Gymnasium.
The Generals were paced by senior 174-pounder Ivan Zdanov (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and sophomore 184-pounder Joe Mueller (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel) who each posted victories.
Zdanov pinned his opponent, sophomore Shawn Zeplin (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) in 4:40. For Zdanov, it was his team-leading third pin of the season. Mueller picked up an 11-4 victory over sophomore Bill Cummins (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley).
The victory improved Muhlenberg to 6-5 overall, 1-1 in the Centennial.
The Generals will return to action on Saturday as they will wrestle in the Ursinus Invitational. Action is slated to begin at 10:00 am.
