W&L Women's Basketball Defeated By Bridgewater, 63-47

LEXINGTON, Va. – Bridgewater used a 13-0 run over a seven minute span in the second half to break a tie game and defeat Washington and Lee, 63-47, in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.

W&L (3-6, 1-4 ODAC) grabbed its final lead of the game with 16:18 to play as senior center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) converted a layup off an assist from freshman guard Bethany Dannelly (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe).

On the ensuing possession, Bridgewater (8-1, 6-0 ODAC) senior forward Sarah Hagood (Shawsville, Va./Shawsville) knotted the game at 28-28 with a layup and sophomore guard Marie Bolton (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) gave the Eagles the lead for good (30-28) when she hit a jumper with 14:59 left in the game.

W&L was paced by senior forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) who scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Babst recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.

The Eagles were led by Hagood who tallied team-highs in points (17) and rebounds (9). Junior forward Megan Forster (Shawsville, Va./Shawsville) chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds and three steals.

W&L returns to action on Tuesday evening when it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for a 7:00 pm game.
