W&L Men's Basketball Defeats Emory & Henry, 62-60

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman guard Ian McClure (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) hit a layup with :00.5 seconds remaining to lift Washington and Lee to a 62-60 win over Emory & Henry in ODAC men's basketball action at the Warner Center on Wednesday evening.

The Generals (5-14, 3-11) led by 10 points (36-26) at the break and did not trail until 2:24 remained in the ball game when E&H freshman forward Brandon Stanley (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage) sunk a layup. The game would feature five ties from that point on until McClure's layup fell.

Junior guard John Warren (Greenville, S.C./Wade Hampton) led W&L with 13 points, all in the first half. McClure totaled 11 points, a career-high five rebounds, and three assists.

The Wasps (11-9, 5-8) were paced by Stanley, who tallied 16 points, 13 of which came in the second half of play. He also grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Israel Long (Pulaski, Va./Pulaski County) notched 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor.

The Generals outrebounded E&H, 43-31, but hit just 14-of-29 free throws, including only 8-of-17 in the second half. The Wasps went scoreless from the three-point line, missing each of its 16 attempts from beyond the arc.
