LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior center Aron McMillian (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day) scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to lead Guilford to a 64-55 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action at the Warner Center on Wednesday evening.
The Quakers (5-4, 2-2) jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the opening 4:51 of the game and extended their lead to as many as 16 points (38-22) in the first half in leading 38-25 at the break.
Guilford extended its lead to 19 points (57-38) with 7:11 remaining in the contest, however, the Generals outscored the Quakers 17-7 the rest of the way to provide the nine-point margin.
Washington and Lee (3-6, 1-3) was led by junior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon), junior guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) and freshman forward Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier), who each scored 10 points. Hettermann also collected 10 rebounds and four assists. Sophomore forward Hamill Jones (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) tallied career-highs in points (8) and rebounds (8).
Senior guard Paul Kindem (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) notched 11 points and sophomore guard Ron Bradford (Eden, N.C./Greensboro Day) added 10 points for the Quakers. Sophomore forward Josh Connor (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) contributed nine points and 11 rebounds.
Washington and Lee will be in action again on Saturday as it travels to Roanoke for a 7:00 pm contest.
