GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford's Aron McMillan was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field for 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Quakers to a 65-51 victory over Washington and Lee on Wednesday evening at the Ragan-Brown Field House.
W&L claimed a 19-18 advantage with 7:45 to play in the first half, however, saw the Quakers use a 21-8 run over the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half to take a 39-27 lead with 16:21 to play.
The Generals, who trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half, did manage to cut the lead to four points (52-48) on a jumper from freshman guard Mike Stuart(Warrenton, Va./Faquier) However, Guilford ended the W&L threat by responding with an 11-1 run over the next four minutes to claim a 63-49 lead.
The Generals (4-10, 2-7 ODAC) were led by junior guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) who scored a season-high 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range. Junior forward Scott Hetterman (Falls Church, Va./Landon) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.
Paul Kindem chipped in with 15 points for the Quakers (9-6, 6-4 ODAC).
W&L will return to action on Sunday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan at 7:00 pm.
