W&L Men's Basketball Falls to Hampden-Sydney, 78-51

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Matt McKeag (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) and sophomore forward Jason Holman (Amelia, Va./Amelia County) each scored 16 points to lead Hampden-Sydney to a 78-51 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon at the Warner Center.

Holding an 18-10 lead with 6:43 remaining in the opening half, the Tigers (13-1, 7-1) closed the half on a 19-5 run to take a 37-15 lead at the break. W&L (4-9, 2-6) would not challenge from that point on.

The Tigers shot 53.2 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Generals, 42-23, in the game.

Freshman center Mark Franceski (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) led W&L with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. Sophomore forward Hamill Jones (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) chipped in with a career-high 10 points in the losing effort.

Sophomore guard Jeff Monroe (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) joined McKeag and Holman in double figures with 11 points. Junior center Lane Brooks (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) collected a game-high 10 rebounds.

Washington and Lee will be in action again on Wednesday as it travels to Guilford for a 7:00 pm contest.
