W&L Field Hockey Falls to Catawba, 3-0

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College defeated visiting Washington and Lee 3-0 in field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Frock Field.

The Lady Indians (2-4), who had not played in two weeks, scored all three goals in the first half. The first goal came just 26 seconds into the contest when Kristin Pannenbacker scored off an assist from Taryn Gordon on the game's first shot. Gordon then followed with a goal of her own at the 23:24 mark scoring off a shot from the top of the circle.

Catawba closed out the scoring at the 19:55 mark when Kristin Zweizig scored her fourth goal of the season.

The Generals' (1-4, 1-3 ODAC) defense picked things up in the second half as Catawba posted just one shot on goal. Catawba goalkeeper Krystal Griffith made seven saves on the afternoon.

W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Randolph-Macon Woman's College for a game at 4:30 pm.
