Rolf Piranian Notches 200th Career Victory In 2-0 Win At Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. -- Washington and Lee men's soccer coach Rolf Piranian earned his 200th career victory on Saturday afternoon as the Generals defeated host Randolph-Macon, 2-0.

Piranian, who is in his 26th season as head coach at his alma mater, claims an all-time record of 200-172-20 (.510). He is the winningest coach in program history.

Sophomore midfielder Philip Miller (Kingswood, Texas/Kingswood) scored both goals for the Generals (3-1-1, 2-0 ODAC). Miller also recorded two goals in a 2-1 victory at Lynchburg on Thursday afternoon giving him four goals in his last two games.

Miller's first goal came at the 37:00 mark when he beat Yellow Jacket goalkeeper Mike Matson to give W&L a 1-0 lead at halftime. Miller tallied his second goal of the match at the 57:48 mark off an assist from sophomore forward Bret Grote (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny).

W&L junior goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) recorded nine saves to earn his first shutout of the season and 12th of his career. Matson made three saves for the Yellow Jackets (3-5, 0-2 ODAC) in the first half of action, while Bill Simolika made one save in the second 45 minutes of play.

W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Emory & Henry at 4:00 pm.
