W&L Field Hockey Drops 1-0 Overtime Game to Roanoke

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Roanoke junior defender Nicole Yodice (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) scored with 3:06 left in the first overtime period to give the Maroons a 1-0 victory over Washington and Lee in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon on W&L Turf Field.

Following a cross from the right corner, the ball was knocked around near the goal until Yodice was able to get her stick on the ball and beat W&L goalkeeper Deidra MacLeod (Weston, Mass./Weston).

W&L (1-3, 1-3 ODAC) outshot the Maroons, 8-5, but failed to convert several scoring opportunities inside the circle. The Generals also had four penalty corners while Roanoke (3-2, 3-1 ODAC) had two.

MacLeod finished with four saves for the game. Maroon goalkeeper Jodi Godbout (Columbia, Md./Centennial) made three saves, including one with her glove in the overtime period.

The Generals return to action on Saturday when they travel to Catawba for an 11:00 am game.
