LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team placed third out of eight teams at the Newport News Apprentice Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Va.
Longwood won the invitational with 122 points, while W&L accumulated 60 points.
Junior 197-pounder Ezra Morse (Central Point, Ore./Crater) and freshman 184-pounder Joe Mueller (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel) led the Generals with second-place finishes.
Senior 149-pounder Josh Chamberlain (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and freshman Steve Saks (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) at 157, picked up third-place finishes.
Senior heavyweight John Sensing (Hockessin, Del./The Tatnall School), senior 174-pounder John Valentine (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), and freshman 141-pounder Cory Little (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) all placed fourth in their respective events.
Washington and Lee (4-5-1, 1-3) will be in action again next Saturday as they travel to Reading, Pa., to compete in the Albright Quadrangular at 2:00 pm.
