SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team finished fourth out of 11 teams with 47.5 points at the Scranton Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Kings won the tournament with 134 points, followed by Lycoming (69.5 points) and the College of New Jersey (68.5 points).
W&L senior Ezra Morse (Central Point, Ore./Crater) won the championship of the 197-pound weight class defeating Tegan McKee of Kings in the finals, 4-3. Morse also defeated Luke Rosenberger of Baptist Bible, 13-2, and Glenn Zimmermann of Kings, 1-0.
Sophomore 184-pounder Joseph Mueller (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel) and senior 174-pounder Ivan Zdanov (Frederick, Md./Frederick) each finished as runner-up in their respective weight classes.
Mueller defeated Bill Brennen of Albright, on a technical fall and Keith Kubicek of TCNJ, 6-4, before falling to Dale Rismiller of TCNJ, 13-9, in the finals. Zdanov picked up a victory over Ty Edwards of Albright with a fall and Nate Jones of Lycoming with an 8-3 decision. Zdanov then lost to Joe Amone of Kings, 5-4, in the finals.
W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Southern Virginia at 7:30 pm.
